John Alfred Wagner, 70, of Red Wing, died Sunday, June 7, 2015 at his home. He was born October 19, 1944, in Tyler, Minnesota, to Alfred and Catherine (Connors) Wagner. They lived in Pipestone, Minnesota, where he attended school. In 1966 he moved to St. Paul Park, where he lived with his mother and in December of 1988 he moved to Red Wing where he has since resided. He worked for Washington High School doing janitorial work, as a kitchen helper at one of the local nursing homes, at the Econo Foods Bakery, and for Opportunity Services. John was liked by everyone and was always happy. He enjoyed bowling, dancing, concerts, movies, drinking Coke-a-Cola, and watching TV.
He is survived by his sister, Billie (Gene) Stinar of Cannon Falls; nephews, Randy (Pam) Stinar of Cannon Falls and Mark (MaryAnn) Kearns of California; and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joanne Catherine Kearns.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Deacon Pat Evans officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
