John Bruce Thomas, 59, of Red Wing, died suddenly on Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Red Wing, after a brief illness. He was born on December 22, 1957, in Seattle, Washington to Bill and Martha (Hlavaty) Thomas. For the past few years he has been employed at Maple Island in Wanamingo.
He is survived by his mother, Martha Thomas; sister, Vicky Thomas; brother, Brian (Karen) Thomas; nephews, Kevin Thomas, William Ewart and David Ewart and nieces, Laura Thomas and Anna Ewart. He was preceded in death by his father and brother-in-law, David C. Ewart.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2017, at the First Presbyterian Church in Red Wing. Memorials are preferred to the charity of donor's choice or the Mayo Clinic Foundation. Online condolences may be sent to www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
