John Simanski, Jr.

John Eugene Simanski, Jr., 58 of Red Wing, died Monday, January 13, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System, Methodist Campus in Rochester. He was born on September 8, 1966, in Faribault to John and Juleanne (Hubbard) Simanski. He attended St. John’s School and then received his GED. He went to Brown Institute for Broadcasting and served a couple of internships. He resided in the Twin Cities for many years before moving back to Red Wing where he worked at Annadee’s Closet and most recently at 3M. He enjoyed hiking, listening to 80’s rock music and singing. He had a great love for animals, especially his cats. 

John is survived by his mother, Juleanne (Larry) Von Bargen; sister, Jodie (Tony Gilles) Chaves; niece, Katie Otten; significant other, Sheree Bewick; step-sister, Gina Schorn; step-brothers, Todd Von Bargen, Tracey Von Bargen and Tim Von Bargen and their families,  along with aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, John. 

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Todd Engel officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.
