John Andrew Schaffer

John Andrew Schaffer, 66, of Red Wing died January 15, 2018 at home surrounded by family. He was born February 24, 1951 in Red Wing to Raymond and Frances (Blaud) Schaffer. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1969, and went on to play baseball at Ridgewater College in Willmar. After college, John moved back to Red Wing and started working at Red Wing Shoe, where he worked for 32 years. He worked several other jobs until he got sick. John was united in marriage in 1973 to Joan Link in Lake City. In 2015, he was inducted into the Red Wing Baseball Hall of Fame. He enjoyed baseball, hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends and family.

John is survived by his wife Joan of Red Wing; children, Chris, Chad (Sarah), and Andrea, all of Red Wing; seven grandchildren; sister, Julie Watermolen of Orlando; and 3 nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
