Obituary: John Alvin Reese

Funeral services for John Alvin Reese will be at 11 AM on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Goodhue with Reverend Andy Krause officiating. Gayle Krause will provide the music and casketbearers will be Allan Reese, David Reese, Daniel Reese, Brett Reese, Robert Reese, Dale Reese, Robert Reese, Douglas McDaniel and William L. Kopesky, II. Burial will be at 12 noon on Monday at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis at Assembly Area #5. Memorials are preferred to St. John's Lutheran Church or the Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary � John and Donna Reese Endowment Fund.

John, age 74, died on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at his residence. He was born John Alvin Reese on November 28, 1933 in Red Wing, MN to Arthur and Amanda (Lohmeyer) Reese, Sr. He attended school at St. John's Parochial School, Martin Luther High School in New Ulm, MN and graduated from Goodhue High School. He worked on area farms before entering the United States Army. John worked for the Nike Guided Missile Defense Unit in New Jersey and was honorably discharged. He returned to Goodhue and was employed by Northwest Airlines as a computer programmer analyst for 31 years. He retired in 1989. John married Donna Kopesky on February 10, 1979 in Burnsville, MN. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Goodhue and enjoyed playing cards and fishing. He is survived by his wife and five brothers: Arthur Reese, Jr., Donald (Lila) Reese, Laverne Reese, all of Goodhue, MN, Harlin Reese, of Oradell, NJ, and Hilbert (Bernie) Reese, of Northfield, MN; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Amanda.

Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Friday, April 4, 2008 at Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
