John C. Peters age 76 of Lake City passed away May 9, 2008 at Sunrise Cottages in Rochester.
John was born February 18, 1932 to John & Margaret (Thomforde) Peters in Lake City. John graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 1950. He served in the Army for a short time. John worked as a carpenter with his father and his brothers in the Lake City area. He married Bonnie Buck in July 19, 1958, they later divorced. He then married Marie Nelson June 20, 1976 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. Marie passed away June 20, 1995. John was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City were he served on many boards and committees. He was a Sunday School Teacher and sang in the Senior Choir for many years.
He is survived by three daughters, Lorelei Peters of St. Paul, JoEllen Harrison of Red Wing ChrisAnn Peters of Rochester; a son, John "Jack" (Tracie) Peters of St. Paul; three brothers, Arnold (Jo Anne) Peters of Lake City, Louis (Ruth) Peters of Kennet Square, PA, Walter (Patricia) of Tomah, WI. He was preceded in death by his wife, a brother Hans Peters and a sister, Martha Wenger.
A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 pm at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Rev. Scott Carmichael and Dennis Valleau officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church.
