Kasson ? A memorial service for John H. Mather will be 2 pm Monday at Mahn Family Funeral Home ? Rochester Chapel with the Rev. LaVern Trocinski officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Mather, 86, of Kasson, formerly of Rochester, died Thursday (Feb. 2, 2006) at Fairview Nursing Home in Dodge Center where he had resided since June 2005. Born Nov. 15, 1919 in Watertown, WI, he grew up in Rochester and attended Rochester Schools. On Sept. 2, 1940 he married Phyllis Nobs in Rochester. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942 to 1946. After the service he worked for Ace Trucking and Equipment in Rochester for 27 years. He was active in Boy Scouts, trained and ran Retrievers in Field Trials, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. After retirement the couple spent winters in Texas and summers at French Lake in Faribault, MN. They moved to Kasson five years ago. Survivors include his wife, a daughter Julie Eidem (Don Diercks) of Byron; a son Mike of Denver, CO; four grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and his brother Joseph (Betty) of Longville, MN. He was preceded in death by a sister.
