John "Jack" Landeck

July 26, 1922 — January 8, 2015

John "Jack" Oliver Landeck, 92, of Red Wing, died January 8, 2015.
Preceded in death by his wife Angeline Landeck.
Survived by his daughter from a previous marriage Mrs. Jan Anders (George), grandchildren, great grandchildren and two great-nieces Susan Webster (Keith) and Mary Lenway-Just (Bill).
Jack served in WWII in Okinawa Japan and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He married Angeline Calkins on 7/6/63. Jack was a "jack-of-all-trades", working with his father in the family construction business, as a mechanic, with the DNR and finally finding his true niche in life as boat captain running a charter boat service on Lake Superior out of Bayfield, WI. An avid outdoorsman/sportsman, Jack participated in numerous ski jumping tournaments as a member of the Aurora Ski Club and was an accomplished marksman and member of the Red Wing Sportsmen's Club. He enjoyed hunting and had a true passion for fishing; he was a true river rat with an in-depth knowledge of the Mississippi River and Lake Pepin area, and a member of the Izaak Walton League.
For the wonderful care he received in his last months the family would like to thank the staff of Accra Home Health, St Brigid's, and Heartland Hospice.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015 at the Mahn Family Funeral home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with the Rev. James Zotalis officiating. Burial with full military honors by Leo C. Peterson American Legion #54 will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.
