A mass of Christian burial for John G. Kosse will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Tracy. Celebrating the mass will be the Reverend Robert Mraz. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Tracy. Mr. Kosse, 67, of Rochester, died suddenly at his home on Friday October 2, 2009.
John G. Kosse was born October 31, 1941 in Tracy, the son of Joseph and Evelyn Kosse. He resided in Tracy for most of his life, moving to Rochester in 1987. He married Beverly Larson in Tracy on April 20, 1963. Mr. Kosse worked at Enderson's Men's & Boys' Clothing Store in Tracy for 21 years. He also served in the National Guard from 1962 to 1968. In 1980 he began working as an insurance agent and remained in that profession until his passing.
Active in his community and church, he dedicated lifelong service to Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Tracy, Pax Christi Catholic Church in Rochester, as well as numerous civic and community organizations. He loved music and enjoyed being outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Bev Kosse, of Rochester; children, Jim Kosse of Corcoran, Marji (Neal) Olson of Plymouth, Carol Kosse of Rochester, and Doug Kosse of rural Foley; 3 grandchildren, Olivia, Audrey, and Alec Olson; a former foreign exchange student who is thought of as a son, Naoki Ban, his wife Takako, and their son Takuma, of Japan; 3 brothers, Dave (Sharon) Kosse of Tracy, Gary (Kathy) Kosse of South Saint Paul, and Chuck (Pat) Kosse of Saint Paul; and a sister, Jeanne (Roger) Stevens of Minneapolis. His parents and a sister, Bernadette Kosse, precede him in death.
Friends may call Monday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Rochester. The visitation in Rochester will conclude with a rosary and prayer service. Visitation will continue 1 hour prior to services at the church in Tracy on Tuesday. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.
