ROCHESTER A private graveside service was held for John J. Henderson in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
Mr. Henderson, 60, of Rochester, died Sunday (May 25, 2008) at Bethany Samaritan Heights Nursing Home in Rochester where he had resided since the first of this year.
Born Aug. 22, 1947 in Effingham, IL he moved to Hampton, IA where he graduated from High School in 1965. He attended Wartburg College from 1965 to 1970 receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then attended the University of Northern Colorado where he received his Masters degree in special education. He was a special education teacher and lived in Jamestown, ND, Owensboro, KY, and Charlotte, NC. He retired in 1993 and moved to Rochester in 1994. He enjoyed being a volunteer at the Mayo Clinic, walking at Apache Mall, the geese at Silver Lake, and animals.
Survivors include his mother Jacqueline Henderson of Hampton, IA; his brother Roger (Kathy) Henderson of Theilman, MN; and two nephews Drew and Ross (Annie) Henderson both of Rochester. His father Paul preceded him in death.
