John Robert Goodman

John R. Goodman, 94, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at his home at Valentine's Assisted Living. He was born Feb. 20, 1926 in Red Wing to Anthony and Myrtle (Carlson) Goodman and attended school in Red Wing. He enlisted in the US Navy and served during WWII until he was honorably discharged. John was very proud of his service spent as a gunner aboard the USS General W.F. Hase. He was united in marriage to Ramona Edgington in December of 1959 and they made their home in Red Wing. John worked at ADM until his retirement in 1989. He was very patriotic, was proud of the United States' flag, and he loved animals.
He is survived by one sister, Grace Danielson of Hastings, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; wife, Ramona; and sister, Mary Bjorngaard.
A graveside service with military honors will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing. Arrangements made by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
