John C. Feil age 86 of Pine Island died on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Douglas with Pastor Ricardo Alcoser officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester. Visitation will be on Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
John Claus Feil was born on July 5, 1929 in the Pumpkin Hollow area of Milton Township, Dodge County, MN to Claus and Alvina (nee Parkins) Feil. John grew up on the family farm and attended country school. In the early 1940's his family moved to rural Douglas. He farmed with his parents and after his parents died, John continued to run the farm. In the mid 2000's, he sold the farm and moved into Pine Island. John enjoyed playing cards, bingo, socializing with people and riding around Pine Island on his three wheel bicycle. John was a member of the United Methodist Church in Douglas and the Pine Island Senior Citizens.
John is survived by his brother, George (Helen) Feil of Zumbrota, nieces and nephews, Brenda (Randy) Nelson of St. Francis, KS, Linda (Daniel) LaDuke of Green Isle, MN, Michael (Patty) Feil of Las Vegas, NV and Dean (Sylvia) Feil of Odessa, TX; fourteen great nieces and nephews and three great great nephews and niece.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Claus and Alvina.
Memorials are preferred to the United Methodist Church in Douglas.
Arrangements are with the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel in Pine Island.
