John L Binner

John L. Binner, 87, of Lake City died April 27, 2014 at Angel's Care Center in Cannon Falls. He was born February 27, 1927 in Kellogg, Minn. to John and Marie (Wampach) Binner. He grew up and attended school in Kellogg before joining the Navy in 1946. After being honorably discharged he returned to Kellogg. On January 29, 1949 he married Jeanine Rhodey at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Plainview, Minn. The couple then lived in Wabasha for a short time. They moved to Lake City in 1950 where he worked as a maintenance foreman at AE Goetze for 36 years, retiring in 1985. He continued to work doing various jobs in the Lake City area. He was a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church. John enjoyed woodworking, the outdoors, hunting, fishing and working in the garden.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanine of Lake City; two children, Ron (Deb) Binner of Lake City, Susan (Rodney) Eischens of Zumbro Falls; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; sister, Delores (Raymond) Weir of Maple Plain, Minn. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Gerald Binner; daughter, Karen Fick; two brothers, Donald and Eugene Binner; and one sister, Betty Lamey.
A Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City with Father Joseph Pete officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the service at church. Arrangements with the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City.
