John Anderson

John Leonard Anderson, age 90, of Zumbrota, died on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at his home. He was born on October 1, 1923 in St. Paul to Leonard and Signe (nee Dahlquist) Anderson. John was the younger of two children. He served in the United States Army and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University. John started his veterinary career in Glenwood, MN and then moved to Zumbrota and built his first clinic in 1952 where he worked for over 50 years. He was the eternal optimist and had an infectious zest for life. John loved his family, getting up every day to work as a large animal veterinarian, his faith, and contributing to the community he lived in. His pastimes included golf, bridge, and downhill skiing.

John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia; his children, Michael (Amber Cook) Anderson of Lynden, WA, Sue Elmer of St. Louis Park, Matt (Stacie) Anderson, Jack (Renee) Anderson, both of Zumbrota, Chris (Tom) Hall of Dillon, CO; grandchildren, James (Brooke) Anderson, Hans Anderson, Tristan (Ava) Anderson, Tyler (Brianne) Robinson, Abbey Elmer, Arthur Elmer, Brady Robinson, Lane Anderson, Gretta Anderson, Chase Anderson, Neva Anderson; great-grandchild, Raven Anderson.

John was preceded in death by parents, Leonard and Signe Anderson, and sister, Jean Anderson.

A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Pastor Susan Vikstrom officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014 at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
