A memorial service for Joe Heimberg will be held Friday March 22nd at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island. The Rev. Marie Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Following the service, and after a post-service luncheon, burial will be at Milton Cemetery in Dodge County. Mr. Heimberg, 73, of rural Pine Island, died Sunday March 10, 2024 at his home.
Joe was born May 22, 1950 to Fred and Florence Heimberg in Byron, Minnesota. They moved to Pine Island when he was 8 years old. He attended Pine Island school from 2nd grade to graduation in 1969. From high school he enlisted in the Army. He served 19 months in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1972 as a Spec E5.
When he came back to Pine Island in 1972 he met the love of his life Gerri (Kramer) Heimberg. They married on May 12, 1973.
Joe worked at Land O Lakes for a time, took over the family farm where he resided at the time of his death. He also worked at Pine Island Elevator (Ag Partners) for 35 years where he retired in 2012.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the "outdoor" channel on TV, spending time with family, and "tinkering" outside with his tractors.
Joe is survived by his wife Gerri, daughters Missy Heimberg (Dale Post), Shelley Beck (Tony); four grandchildren Sara, Becca, Dylan, Justin; two great-grandchildren, and two sisters Cathy Swee (Marlyn) and Roz Rydstrom and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Bobbie, brother Fred, niece Connie, parents and grandparents.
