Joanne Marie Johnson

Joanne Marie Johnson, 83, of Red Wing, died Thursday, May 30, 2019, surrounded by her family, at St. Crispin Living Community. She was born on August 5, 1935, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota to William and Esther (Larson) Carlson. She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1953. On June 21, 1955, she was united in marriage to Dale Morris. They lived in Helena, Montana where she worked for AT&T for 10 years before moving to Detroit Lakes in 1964. In 1965 they moved to Lake City and in 1968 moved to Red Wing. They later divorced. For 10 years she worked for Riveria Kitchens in Red Wing and then for the Seminary Home. In 1988 she married Gordon Johnson and they later divorced. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, dancing, going to the cabin and most of all spending time with her family and friends.
Joanne is survived by her children, Joni (Richard) Kohn of Red Wing, Judy (Jay) Oberg of Hager City, Jeri (Leonard McCracken) Morris of Red Wing, William Morris of Cape Coral, Florida, Jean (Michael) Kinnetz of Stewartville and Jennifer Morris of St. Louis Park; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Osten of Detroit Lakes and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings, former husband, Dale Morris and her beloved dog Rachel.
Private family service will be held. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
