Joanne M. Befort

Joanne M. Befort, age 75, of Mazeppa, died on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at her home. Joanne Mae Blattner was born on October 10, 1938 in West Florence Township, Goodhue County, MN to Andrew and Lillie (nee Quell) Blattner. She grew up in rural Lake City and attended Lake City Schools. On April 16, 1955 she married David Befort in Lake City. They made their home in rural Mazeppa. Joanne was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and its ladies aid. She headed up the funeral lunch committee for many years. Joanne was also a member of the Mazeppa Senior Citizens and was a flea marketer.

Joanne is survived by her; sons, Larry (Janet) of Zumbrota, Ron (Renee) of St. Paul Park, Mike (Mary) of Mazeppa, and Jerry of Mazeppa; daughters, Suzanne (John) Tiedemann and Gwen (Darrel) Klein, all of Mazeppa; fourteen grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ervin Blattner of Red Wing, Marvin (Eloise) Blattner, Merlyn Blattner and Mel (Pat) Blattner all of Lake City and sister, Jeanette (Don) Keyser of Red Wing.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; husband David who died on October 10, 1994; one grandson; one great-grandson and sister, Janice Blattner.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mazeppa with Pastor Alan Horn officiating. Burial will be in the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 6:00 pm on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
