The funeral for Joan Petersson will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Mahn Family Funeral Home Rochester Chapel with Rev. Michael Wuehler of Christ United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Petersson, 93, a homemaker, of Rochester, died Monday (Oct. 5, 2009) at Golden Living Center East where she had resided since July.
Joan Helen Fawcett was born June 20, 1916 in Rochester to Lester and Emma (Boege) Fawcett. She graduated from Rochester High School. On Dec. 4, 1936 she married Rolland V. "Pete" Petersson in Rochester; he died May 28, 1978. She was a life-long homemaker who enjoyed sewing, reading, and gardening. She loved animals and spending time with family and friends. She was the longest living member of Christ United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Carter of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; two sons, Rolland W. (Mary) of Rochester; and Richard (Vivian) of Billings, Montana; her sister, Margie Caughlin of San Francisco, California; her brother, Bill Fawcett of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren, Rolland (Deann), Robert (Kori), Dylan, and Elsa Petersson, and Yaro Carter; and four great grandchildren. A sister, Shirley Thiem, and a brother, Gordon also preceded her in death.
