Joan E. Knowlton
Joan Elizabeth Knowlton, age 86, of Red Wing, died Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the St. Crispin Living Community - Seminary Home. She was born February 1, 1930 in Red Wing to Frank and Hazel (Leeson) Ladner. She grew up in Red Wing and graduated from high school there. On March 26, 1949 she married Franklin A. Knowlton in Bellchester. Joan was a homemaker, raising seven children. She was a member of United Lutheran Church and volunteered with the alter guild and other ladies groups. She also participated with the Memorial Day service at Levee Park. She enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles, playing cards and Bingo, but most of all spending time with family.
Joan is survived by her children, Dixie (Jim) Hilton of Hastings, MN, Bonnie (Kenton)Grams of Hastings, NE, Debra Lamm of Minneapolis, Ricky (Deb) Knowlton of Red Wing, Terry (Nicole) Knowlton of Havre, MT, Sherry (Alex) Cragoe of Pine Island; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Hazel Ladner; husband, Franklin Knowlton; son, Danny Knowlton; sister, Ione Mandelkow.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, April 1, 2016 at United Lutheran Church with Reverend Justin Boeding officiating. Burial will take place at Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2016, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing and for one hour prior to the service at church on Friday.
