Joan R. Clementson

Joan R. Clementson age 69 of Red Wing died suddenly on Friday, September 24, 2010 at her home in Red Wing. A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 11:00 AM at United Redeemer Lutheran Church, 560 West 3rd Street in Zumbrota. Inurnment will be in United Lutheran Cemetery. A memorial gathering is scheduled for Monday, September 27, 2010 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Joan Rita Clementson was born on January 9, 1941 in Red Wing, MN to Conrad A. and Avis C. (nee Johnson) Clementson. She grew up in rural Zumbrota and graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1958. Joan attended several colleges and started teaching in 1966 at Como Junior High in St. Paul. She taught for several years at Como and one year in England. In 1969 she started teaching high school English at the Red Wing High School. She retired in 1998 after twenty nine years at Red Wing High School. Joan was a member of the MEA and enjoyed going to the cabin, flower gardening, reading, animals, wintering in Florida, traveling and spending time with her nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Joan is survived by two brothers, Bruce (Judy) Clementson of Pine Island and Keith (Jane) Clementson of Zumbrota, five nephews, Scott (Robyn) Clementson, Reed Clementson, Paul (Dawn) Clementson, David (Jenny) Clementson and Kyle (Jenny) Clementson and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents Conrad and Avis and one brother, Steven.
Honorary bearers are her five nephews, Scott, Reed, Paul, David and Kyle Clementson. Memorials are suggested to the Red Wing School Foundation.
