Jewell Peterson
Jewell Maxine Peterson, 79, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at the Red Wing Health Center. She was born February 22, 1929 in Guckeen, Minnesota to Lawrence and Edna (Mueller) Kirchgatter. Her family moved to Red Wing, where she attended school. On June 7, 1947, she married Robert W. Peterson in Red Wing. She worked at Durkee Atwood for 36 years. She had a life-long interest in buying and selling antiques and was able to open her own antique store. Robert died on October 29, 1988. She was a member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Jody Peterson of Hager City; two sons, William "Bill" (Wendy) Peterson and Bob Peterson both of Red Wing; two grandchildren, Thate and Jenna Peterson; and one brother, Donn (Joann) Kirchgatter of Eagan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, and one sister, Shirley Nagle.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church with Reverend Rick Grams officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Trapper Waleski, Duane Duden, Dave Hallstrom, Dick Houghton, Mark and Steve Johnson. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to the church or Fairview Red Wing Hospice.
