Jesse James Makielski, 37, of Red Wing, formerly of California, died unexpectedly on October 19, 2020 at his home. He was born February 22, 1983 in Orange County, California. He grew up in California and made his way to Minnesota about 10 years ago. It was here he met his wife, Karen Richter. After five years together, they were married on a trip to Vegas in summer of 2019. He worked as a bartender at the Bierstube in Red Wing and as a video attendant at Treasure Island.
Jesse loved to joke around and he was always smiling. He loved to travel and go to concerts with Karen. He especially loved their trips to Las Vegas. He created a family of friends in Red Wing who he loved spending time with. His Bierstube family helped make Red Wing a place to call home. When he wasn’t working or spending time with Karen, he was building complicated Lego sets and watching WWE wrestling.
Jesse’s smile and sense of humor will be missed by many, including his wife, Karen; parents, Samantha and Greg Cottage of California; brother, Jeremiah Cottage of California and sister, Virginia (Brian) Oyama of Michigan; his niece and nephew, Claire and Chase Oyama and his grandparents, Lesley and Gerry Bonnar of California.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m., Saturday, October 24, 2020 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing. Seating is limited and masks are required. A visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
