Jesse L. Bollman

ROCHESTER Jesse Bollman, Jr., 84, a longtime Rochester Optician, died Sunday (Jan. 2, 2011) at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Jesse Louis Bollman, Jr. was born July 30, 1925 in Rochester to Dr. Jesse Louis Bollman, Sr. and Mildred Lee (Montgomery) Bollman. He graduated from Rochester High School in 1944 where he was Class President and Captain of the football team. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater. After his discharge from the Navy he attended Rochester Junior College for two years. On Sept. 3, 1948 he married Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Woldridge in Rochester. He attended Iowa State University where he played football, and then returned to Rochester Junior College where he graduated from the School of Opticians. Jesse owned and operated Bollman Opticians at Crossroads Shopping Center for many years, retiring in 1992. He and his wife have resided at Shorewood Place in Rochester. Jesse was a longtime College and High School Referee, was active in Little League football, and was a member of the Rochester Officials Assn. He had been a member of the Rochester Elks Club, B.P.O.E. His favorite place was the family lake cabin in Birchwood, WI. He also enjoyed bowling and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, his son, Jeff (Patty) Bollman of Fond du Lac, WI; his daughter, Suzanne Bollman (Mark Anderson) of Ramsey, MN; grandchildren, Tim and Dan Bollman, Alex Bollman and Grant Anderson, and his sister, Jean Rulison of Cameron Park, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Elizabeth Kummer.
Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Shorewood Place, 2205 2 St. S.W., where there will be a Memorial Service at 2:15 p.m.
