Jerry Lampman, 74 of Red Wing, died Wednesday, August 10, 2011 after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Jerry was born February 10, 1937 in Rock Elm Township, Wisconsin, the son of Fred and Bernice (Babcock) Lampman. He attended grade school in Wisconsin until his family moved to Red Wing where he attended Red Wing Central High School. As a teenager, he worked on a farm until he began working at the Red Wing Shoe Company, where he was employed until his retirement in 1992. Jerry married Marlene Bulmer on October 26, 1957. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, flowers, going for walks, and making smoked fish for his friends. Jerry loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan and also enjoyed watching wrestling. Jerry was a member of the Redmen Club for many years.
He is survived by his wife Marlene of Red Wing; children Vicky Lampman of Red Wing, Scott Lampman of Red Wing, and Jeff Lampman of Lake City; grandchildren Kane Lampman of Bay City, Stacy Siefert of Hager City, Brock Lampman of Preston, and Brad Smith of Preston; great-grandchildren Mariah and Leah; mother Bernice Lampman of Red Wing; and sister Bonnie (Burl Beaulieu) Steffenhagen of Red Wing.
He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Tom Lampman; and grandson, Jeremy Lampman.
A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, August 20, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Red Wing with Reverend Greg Strunk officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday, August 19, 2011 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing. Memorials are preferred to Fairview Red Wing Hospice.
