Jerome "Jerry" McGough

Jerome "Jerry" McGough, 88, of Red Wing, MN, died Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Hi-Park Villa. He was born on December 21, 1926, in St. Paul, MN, to Michael J. and Julia (Hoban) McGough. He grew up in St. Paul and graduated from St. Thomas Academy High School in 1945. For a short time, he served in the US Armed Services. On June 21, 1951, he married Mary Lou Dowd of So. St. Paul. In 1952, he graduated from the University of Minnesota with a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and then went to work for the family construction company. In 1976, Jerry and Mary Lou moved their family to Red Wing, where they started Frontenac Hills Apple Farm in Florence Township. He also worked as a consultant of building construction projects. Mary Lou died on December 28, 2004. Jerry was an active member of the Church of St. Joseph. He enjoyed his Irish heritage, camping, reading and being with family and friends.

Survivors include his 11 children, Marie (Kenneth) McCuskey of Ames, IA; James (Nancy) of Two Rivers, WI; Joseph of Cannon Falls; Patrick (Mary) of St. Paul; Anne (Ruth Raich) of Stockholm, WI; Ellen (Jean Campbell) of Seattle; Mark of St. Paul; Jane of St. Paul, John of Red Wing; Megan (Dean) Simonson of Red Wing; and Julia (Mark) Berg of New Prague; 23 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Rita Rapp of New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Ellen (Bob) Michael Luce of Washington, PA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two brothers, Michael and David McGough.

Funeral at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at the Chapel at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park with Chaplain Debby Bradley officiating. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation on Monday, May 11, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service and a time of sharing at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and for ½ hour prior to the Tuesday service at St. Brigid's.
