ROCHESTER - A Celebration of Life for Jerome DeBus will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel with Rev. Maurice Hagen officiating. Entombment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel and also for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Mr. DeBus, age 78 of Rochester, died Sunday Jan. 17, 2016 at Golden Living Center - Rochester East.
Jerome was born Oct. 23, 1937 to Edward and Anita Debus in Welcome, MN. He was raised in Welcome and graduated from Welcome High School. Jerome then served in the U.S. Navy for four years. After his discharge he attended school in Mankato, MN where he was trained as a lineman. Jerome was united in marriage to Phyllis Glynn on May 29, 1969. The couple made their home in Rochester where Jerome worked as a lineman for Rochester Public Utilities for thirty years. He enjoyed caring for his home and yard, and repairing and maintaining things for friends and family.
Survivors include his son Troy (Kathy) of Rochester; step- sons David (Brenda) of New Richland, MN; and Philip (Cheryl) of Owatonna, MN; two grandchildren Melissa, and Chelsie, both of Rochester; and his brother Eugene (Marsha) of Owatonna. Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Phyllis, who died April 21, 2007, a stepson Dannie, two sisters, and four brothers.
