OBITUARY: Jerene Friese Funeral service for Jerene Friese will be at 2PM on Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Reverend Erich Westphal officiating. Music will be provided by Carol Schumacher with congregational singing. Active casketbearers will be Doug Sommer, Troy Kennedy, Todd Kennedy, Bari Herman, Mike Jonas and Percy Thompson. Honorary casketbearers will be Tony Friese, Kirk Friese and Scott Herman. Burial will follow in the Zumbrota Cemetery. Jerene Friese, age 80, of Goodhue, died on Friday, October 20, 2006 at Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. She was born Jerene Vernial Sommer on February 13, 1926 in Minneola Township, Goodhue County, MN to Ed and Elisia (Hadler) Sommer. She attended school in Faribault and Rochester School for the Deaf and on October 7, 1946 she married Otto Friese in Zumbrota. Following their marriage, the couple farmed north of Zumbrota. Jerene was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota, the Deaf Club of Rochester and she enjoyed knitting and sewing. Jerene is survived by her husband, Otto, and one daughter, Tana Sviggum, of Goodhue, MN; one son, Tyron (Jane) Friese, of Zumbrota, MN; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Orrie Friese.
