Jennifer Colleen Gerken, 60, of Red Wing, died Thursday, April 16, 2009 in Red Wing. She was born October 6, 1948 to Charles and Gladys (Gibson) Matteson. She moved to Red Wing with her family as a child. She was a 1966 graduate of Red Wing Central High School. She also graduated from the nursing program at the Red Wing Vo-Tech. She married Ronald Gerken on July 3, 1971. They spent most of their years together in Red Wing, but lived in Memphis, Tennessee for five years. She worked at the clinic in Hastings for a number of years and worked at Fairview Red Wing Medical Center in Urgent Care. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, and her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald; three sons, Patrick (Leigh Waller) Fitschen of Red Wing, Trevor (Rebecca) Fitschen of Memphis, Tennessee, and Justin (Susan) Gerken of Columbus, Georgia; nine grandchildren; one sister, Jackie Schwieger of Hastings; one brother, John (Jill) Matteson of Phoenix, Arizona, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Charles and James.
