Jeffrey Vincent Lawrence, 58, of Red Wing, died Thursday, September 19, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born August 17, 1955, in Red Wing, to Vincent and Dorothy (Thuman) Lawrence. He attended Red Wing Central High School. He enlisted in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1976. Following the service, he became a carpenter and worked with his brother Ed. On November 21, 1980, he was united in marriage to Vicki Johnson and they lived in Red Wing. After working with his brother, he became self-employed and began working with Larry Kull. They embarked on many adventures together leading to the formation of J and L Developers. Before retiring he was employed by Xcel Energy Special Construction. Jeffrey loved cutting wood, classic cars and most of all, spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki; daughters, Rachel (Brady) Miller and Margaret Lawrence; son, Matthew (Angela Bergeson) Lawrence; grandchildren, Vanessa Miller and Brynn and Mason Lawrence; brothers, Ed (Kitty) Lawrence and Chuck (Debbie) Lawrence; sister, Debbie (Chuck) Fanslow; mother-in-law, Gwen Johnson and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Dorothy Lawrence and his father-in-law, Waldo Johnson.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church with Reverend David Baker officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery with military honors provided by the Leo C. Peterson American Legion, post 54 . Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Health Systems Red Wing Hospice, Pay It Forward, American Cancer Society or Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church.
