Jeannette A. Nelson
Jeannette Alice Nelson, age 86, of Hager City, died Saturday, February 27, 2016 at her residence. She was born October 6, 1929 in Leon Township to J. Orval and Gladys (Larson) Young. She graduated from Cannon Falls High School. She married Roland Nelson at Spring Garden on November 6, 1948. They farmed in Pierce County until Roland's death in December 1972. Jeannette worked at the Red Wing Pottery for a little while until starting at Riedell where she worked for 25 years until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, which included taking them fishing in Diamond Bluff.
She is survived by her children, Alice Nelson, Allan Nelson, Larry (Kim) Nelson, Dale (Holly) Nelson, Gloria (Mike) Krause Barker; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; siblings, RoseAnn Powers, LeRoy Young, John Young, Lowell Young, Vicky Golden, and Rick Beckman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland; daughter, Lois McRoberts; grandchildren, Ryan and Kari Krause; great-grandson, Aaron Sieplemyer; sister, Irene Furchner; and parents Gladys and Orval Young.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 5 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Todd Spieker officiating. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, March 4 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour before the service on Saturday.
