Jeannette Johanna Dunlop

Jeannette Johanna (Rasmussen) Dunlop, 100, of Rochester, died Wednesday August 21, 2013 surrounded by her friends at St. Marys Hospital after a brief illness.
Jeannette was born in Austin, Minnesota on November 27, 1912 to Nels and Amelia Rasmussen. She graduated from Austin High School in 1929 and attended Austin Normal College and later graduated from St Cloud Teachers College. She taught school in Racine, Dexter and Dundas, Minnesota. During World War II she worked for the Supply Department as a bookkeeper at the Mare Island Navy Yard in Vallejo, CA. Jeannette was an employee of the Rochester School District for over ten years.
Jeannette married William (Bill) Dunlop in Austin, MN on November 24, 1940. Bill preceded her in death in 1983.
Jeannette was very active in several organizations including: Christmas Anonymous, Heritage Associates and Rochester Civic Theatre. She received the Joe Saidy Award while active at the Rochester Civic Theatre. She was a member of Cedar Chapter #123 Order of the Eastern Star in Owatonna, MN and a member of the Congregational Church in Rochester.
Jeannette celebrated her 100th birthday in November 2012 with family and friends. For 50 years and up until the time of her death Jeannette resided independently at her home in Rochester.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her sister Lorraine Wuertz. Jeannette is survived by a niece and a nephew and many wonderful friends.
Jeannette has donated her body to research at Mayo Clinic. Her remains will be interred at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. No services or visitation are scheduled.
