Jeanne M. Hodge

May 29, 2018 — August 21, 2010

Jeanne Morey Larson Hodge, 92, peacefully passed away at 7:31 pm on August 21, 2010.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota. Visitation will be held from 10:30 until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Jeanne was born on May 29, 1918 and was raised in Zumbrota by her mother Selma (Bachman) Larson and her father, AC Larson, whom she adored. She met Haven in high school in Zumbrota and continued their romance at the University of Minnesota. Jeanne graduated as a Dietician in 1940, worked at St. Mary's Hospital and married Haven on June 23, 1940.
Jeanne was a devoted wife and mother while at the same time a dedicated volunteer and leader at her Church, YWCA, Girl Scouts and the League of Women Voters. She touched so many people through her volunteer organizations, in part by encouraging young people to empower themselves and meet their potential. As a Professional Volunteer she spearheaded the drive to obtain the Bicentennial Commission Grant of the Future for the establishment of the Women's Resource Center in Rochester. She co-founded the Century Club to raise money to support the resource center.
Jeanne possessed many gifts. She loved to cook and entertain her family and friends in her home. She also shared her gift of hospitality with her church, her volunteer organizations and her community.
Jeanne's life was grounded in a deep love of God, Family, Church and helping others. She loved God's waters, His sunshine and His beaches, which can be seen, reflected in the lives of her children and their children; the swimmers, the fishermen, the boaters, the beach walkers and the shellers.
While raising their family Jeanne and Haven lived in Rochester and summered at their cabin at Cedar Beach. In 1970, they moved to their dream house with acreage, cattle and an indoor pool, located on a hill overlooking the Zumbro River. They spent their winters in Hillsboro Beach Florida, where they purchased a condo and continued to welcome and entertain friends and family.
Jeanne loved God, Haven, her family and helping others. Her life reflected her love of the Scriptures and of God. She reflected and believed in God's Great Commandments; Love God with All Your Heart and Love One Another. She will be missed dearly and joyfully celebrated.
Survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Haven H. Hodge, four children Hersch (Rox-Anne), Penny (Bob Boyle), Sally Schultz and Jay (Chris); grandchildren Kari, Haakon (Becki), Kristin (Dean Powers), Jeanne (Dave Gearhart), Erin Boyle, Heather (Marc Woolman), Monica (Dan Yoon), Josh (Jessica) and Vincent Taplin; great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Zachary and Andrew Woolman, Ashley Gearhart, JT, Rocco Yoon, Wyatt Powers, Sophie Gearhart, Hatcher, Jonathon, Noah Powers.
