Jeanne M. Hermann, age 74, of Wanamingo died on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jeanne Marlene Gahler was born August 6, 1934 to Louis and Cora (nee Miller) Gahler. She was raised on the family farm north of Rochester. She attended country school through eighth grade and high school in Rochester where she graduated in 1952. Jeanne met Wilfred "Bill" Hermann in high school and the two were married on September 5, 1952 in Rochester. They lived in Germany from 1954-1955 while Bill was in the U.S. Army. Upon returning to Minnesota in 1955 they moved to Lake City. In 1959 they moved to Wanamingo and started Hermann Implement, which they ran for the next 36 years. Jeanne was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and WELCA. She enjoyed traveling, reading, coffee with friends, playing cards and dominoes, horse back riding, wintering in Florida and spending time with her family. Jeanne was also a caregiver for several nieces and nephews

Jeanne is survived by her husband, Bill Hermann of Wanamingo; three children, Wayne (Bonnie) Hermann, Debra (Gregg) Erickson, Laurie (Todd) Greseth all of Wananmingo; grandchildren, Anna Marie and Stephanie Hermann, Melinda (Paul) Foss, Korey (Greg) Mort, Parker and Megan Erickson, Elizabeth, Derek, Caleb Greseth and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Mildred Kuehn, June Maas, and her twin sister Joanne Shaw; and granddaughter, Sheree Hermann.

A Celebration of Jeanne's life will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wanamingo with Reverend Eugene Hasselquist officiating. Private family inurnment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home ? Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church or Mayo Clinic Cancer Research.
