Jeanette A. Peterson, 69, of Red Wing, died Thursday, November 17, 2011, at the Mayo Health System Lake City Hospital. She was born October 19, 1942, in Lewiston, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Esther (Runge) Tveten. She grew up in the Rushford-Lewiston area and graduated in 1960 from Rushford High School. After graduation she moved to Red Wing and began working at the Training School. She married Donald "Pete" Peterson on May 28, 1966, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hart, Minnesota. Pete died Thursday, October 20, 2011, at his residence as a result of a house fire. She was a travel agent at 1st Choice Travel in Red Wing for 23 years, and she also worked at the Fairview Seminary Home until retiring in 2006. Jeanette loved crafts, gardening, knitting, traveling and making fleece tie blankets for her grandchildren. She was a terrific painter and enjoyed collecting garden gnomes and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Jeanette is survived by her two sons, Eric (Virginia Larson) of Bay City and Timothy (Jereme Parks), of Red Wing; five grandchildren: Nicholas, Dylan, Ashlee, Samantha and Abigail; siblings, Marie (Bob) Volkman, Lois (John) Dyreson, Ione (Leonard, Jr.) Brokaw and David (Kristi) Tveten and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one son, Lance Peterson.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2011, at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
