Jeanette May Danckwart, 77 of Lake City, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010 at her home. She was born April 26, 1933 in Millville, Minnesota to Emil and Helen (Klein) Beck. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1951. On December 18, 1951 she married Louis Danckwart, Jr. in Lake City. They made their home and farmed in West Albany Township. She had worked as cook at the Port of Call and also worked as a housekeeper. Louis died July 14, 2003. Jeanette was a member of the VFW and American Legion Ladies' Auxiliaries, St. John's Lutheran Church, the Know Your Neighbor Bingo Club and various card clubs. She had volunteered at the Lake City Nursing Home and enjoyed embroidering, needlework, as well as gardening and loved cats.
She is survived by four children, Wayne (Sandy) Danckwart of Lake City; Dale Danckwart of Plainview; Sue (Pastor Phil) Spaude of Casper, Wyoming and Julie (Ron) Meincke of Lake City; four grandchildren, Leslie and Lindsey Danckwart and Brandon and Ethan Meincke; a brother, Jack Beck of Aurora, Colorado and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis and two brothers, Myron and Marvin Beck.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Lake City with Reverend Daniel Kroll officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Badger, Robert, Dave, Steve, Marvin and Randy Beck. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m Wednesday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society.
