Jean Marie Tefft, 64, of Hastings, formerly of Red Wing, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at her residence. She was born July 26, 1945 in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of Oscar S. and Rowena M. (VonBargen) Finne. She attended school through grade 7 in Red Wing and graduated from Hastings High School. She received a two-year degree in Secretarial Studies from the Red Wing Vocational Technical School and a two-year degree from a Beauty School in St. Paul. She married James Severson in November, 1965. They lived in Germany for 4 years, then upon returning to Minnesota, they lived in Jackson and then Red Wing. They later divorced. She worked at Red Wing Health Center and the Super 8 Motel. She married Richard Tefft in December of 1988. After retiring, they moved to Hastings. She was an avid reader and had enjoyed arts and crafts and making cookies with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Richard of Hastings; two children: Corey (Jennifer) Severson of Brooklyn Center and Dennise Torrey of Minneapolis; one brother, James (Gayle) Finne of Red Wing; four step-children: Shane (Linda) Linder of Red Wing; Heather (Duey) Peterson of Hastings, Ryan (Kellie) Tefft and Alana (Scott) Hove, all of Phoenix, AZ; thirteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, James Severson.
Memorial service will be 4 p. m. Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Visitation will be 2 - 4 p. m. at the funeral home.
