Jean Wilma McDonald, age 74, passed away Wednesday, December 15 at the Lake City Hospital. Jean was born November 29, 1936 to Henry and Dolores (Anderson) Hollman. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 1954. After high school she began working in Rochester until marrying Lorne McDonald on July 28, 1956 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. Jean worked at various part-time jobs throughout her life. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in which she was a part of the women's guild and was one of Mt. Frontenac's charter members of the Ski Patrol. Jeans passion was playing duplicate bridge, in which she became a Life Master Bridge Player in 1988. She was a member of several different duplicate bridge clubs. She also enjoyed her flower garden and expressing her creativity with flowers and other decorations and traveling throughout the world with her husband.
She is survived by her husband, Lorne McDonald of Lake City; son William (Debb) McDonald of St. Peter, MO, Brett McDonald of Lake City, daughter, Lorna McDonald of St. Paul; nine grandchildren; brothers, William (Kathleen) Hollman of Lake City, Roger (Kathryn) Hollman of Lake City; sister, Wendy (David) Krohn of Franklin, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church with Father Michael Schulenberg officiating. Burial will take place in St. John's Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2010 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
