A memorial service for Jean Haas will be held Monday November 13th at 11:00 AM at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Rochester. The Rev. Jonathan Fasnacht will officiate. Mrs. Haas, 65, of Lakota, Iowa, died on or about Saturday November 4, 2017 at her Rochester, Minnesota residence. Burial of the urn will occur at a later date at Maple Hill Cemetery near Lakota.
Jean Celeste Girardi was born January 14, 1952 in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Ray and Helen Girardi. Raised in Rockford, she attended college at St. Teresa's in Winona, Minnesota where she earned a degree in biology. She then enrolled in the physical therapy program at Mayo Clinic. She worked as a physical therapist at Mayo Clinic for 38 years.
She married Arden Haas in June 2011 in Rochester. She was a member of Pax Christi Catholic Church, and was active in the choir. Her enthusiasm for living was evident in her love of animals, particularly her dogs and cat, being on the farm in Lakota, being outdoors, fishing with her family in Ely, Minnesota, and sewing.
She is survived by her husband, Arden Haas of Lakota, Iowa; two step-sons, Cody and Travis Haas; siblings, Gerald Girardi of Rockford, Illinois, Tom (Joanne) Girardi of North Bend, Oregon, Mike (Pam) Girardi of Winnebago, Illinois, Paula Shuff of Rockford, Nicki Girardi of Rockford, Emily (Mark) Dummer of Rockford, Susan (Greg) Messenger of Killdeer, Illinois and Pat (Ann) Girardi of Rockford. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, Eldon (Nancy) Haas of Lakota, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday November 12th at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel. The visitation will continue on Monday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
