J. David Johnson

J. David Johnson, 92 of Lake City, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023 at the Lake City Care Center. He was born May 31, 1930 in La Crosse, WI, son of Jochum and Myrtle (Venaas) Johnson. David grew up in La Crosse, WI and attended Logan High School in La Crosse. He attended the UW River Falls, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture. David enlisted in the Army and was deployed to Korea where he served for 3 years during the Korean War. On February 10, 1954, He married Ardelle Heck in Lake City. They lived in the Twin Cities for a short time until moving back to Lake City in 1959. David and Ardelle owned and operated the A&W Root Beer Stand until 1985 when they retired. He was an avid outdoorsman and antique dealer.

David is survived by a son, David (Karen) Johnson of Johnson Creek, WI; three grandchildren, Nathaniel, Hannah and Theodore.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ardelle, son, Bradley Johnson.
