Janice Marie Weir

Janice Marie Weir, 70 of Red Wing died on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at her residence in Red Wing. She was born October 17, 1939 in Cokato, Minnesota, the daughter of W.G. and Myrtle (Berry) Wenlund. She attended school in Cokato and graduated from Cokato High School in 1957. Jann attended Gustavus Adolphus for a short time before transferring to St. Cloud State University and graduated in 1961. Jann was united in marriage to Bob Weir on June 3, 1961 at Salem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Jann taught elementary school in Moundsview, Norwalk, California, and Red Wing for many years before retiring. Jann loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling and playing cards. She was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church and PEO.

Janice is survived by her husband Robert Weir of Red Wing; children Todd (Cheryl) Weir of Edina, Tracy (Craig) Roble of Rosemount, and Nathan (Deb) Weir of Hugo; grandchildren Zachary, Benjamin, Ariana, Elijah, Victoria, Ellie, Tessa, and Madeline; sisters Barbara (Richard) Ogaard of Seattle, Washington and Nancy (Allen) Tank of Plymouth, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 2010 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Private burial at Oakwood Cemetery will be at a later date. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and on Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Casketbearers will be her grandchildren. Memorials are preferred to First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
