Janice Cleone Holm, 80, of Red Wing, died Monday at Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis. She was born August 13, 1927, in Red Wing to Clarence and Lucile (Veith) Larson. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1945. She worked as a telephone operator in Red Wing and St. Paul, before moving to San Francisco for a short time doing secretarial work. She married Bob Holm on September 4, 1954 at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing. They lived in Goodhue until moving to Red Wing in March of 1959. She worked a few years at Nords Drugstore in Red Wing and helped her parents for many years at Larson Resort in Wacouta. She was a member of United Lutheran Church and various PTA groups. Her family remembers her for her great support of her husband's business and children's activities.
Survivors include her husband, Bob; four children, Jill Mehrkens of Wacouta, Jerry (Denise) Holm of Red Wing, Tom (Dr. Angela Medina) Holm of Vadnais Heights, and Jack (Lynn) Holm of Red Wing; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at United Lutheran Church with Pastor Randall D. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Wacouta Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Kyle Mehrkens, Ryan, Kevin, Allie, Amelia, Michaela, Chris, Cullen, and Grace Holm. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to United Lutheran Church or donor's choice. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel is handling the arrangements.
