Janice L. French

Janice Lorraine French, of Red Wing, went to be with the Lord on April 29, 2020, at the age of 87 years. She was born on March 19, 1933, in Cannon Falls to Carl and Mildred (Johnson) Wangen. On December 28, 1951, she married Gene French.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; her parents and one brother, Merlyn Wangen on April 29, 1980. She is survived by two sisters, Elaine Serres and Shirley Butler; four children, David French of Arizona and Mexico, Pamela Lester of Oregon, Lynn Cook of Arizona and Steven French of Texas; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Janice enjoyed traveling, was a greeter for the Mississippi Queen, volunteered at the Sheldon Theatre, a member of the Red Hat Ladies Society and past president of the garden club. She was a proud mother and grandmother. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, cute giggle and her passion for Jesus Christ.
Janice's family thanks all those who have been so thoughtful over the years and especially the last few days. A private family service will be held on Monday May 4, 2020, at Burnside Cemetery where she will be laid next to the love of her life, Gene. A celebration of life will be hosted by her niece, Cheryl Klair. The family requests no flowers or memorials.
