Janice Lorraine Dahling, age 72, of Red Wing, died Sunday, November 19, 2006, at her home. She was born on February 6, 1934, in Red Wing, to Henry and Lenora (Voth) Puppe. She grew up in Zumbrota Township, where she attended rural school. She attended Goodhue High School for one year and then graduated from Red Wing High School in 1952. She married Dean Dahling on September 15, 1957, at Immanual Lutheran Church, Hay Creek. She was employed at the license bureau, Red Wing Shoe Company and Red Wing Shoe Employees Credit Union, retiring in 1992 after thirty-five years. She and her husband enjoyed spending time at their summer home in Cumberland, Wisconsin. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church where she was past director of the Sunday School, a member of the alter guild and assistant financial secretary; a member of Burnson-Lillyblad VFW Post 1218 where she served as past president and long time treasurer; a bowling league, a bridge club and the same euchre club for fifty years. She enjoyed reading, sewing and traveling in the USA and abroad. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Becky (Craig) Hinrichs of Red Wing, and LeAnn (Gary) Grover of Zumbrota; four granddaughters, Stacey and Abby Hinrichs and Torie and Molly Grover; one sister, Arlis (David) Meincke of Red Wing; and one brother, Glen Puppe of Red Wing; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Nyla Stegemeyer and Carol Nelson; and one niece. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Concordia Lutheran Church with Reverend Ron Stehr officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Meincke, Kevin Meincke, Steve Stegemeyer, Nick Geiger, Jim Dahling and Tim Hanson. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Stacey and Abby Hinrichs and Torie and Molly Grover. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 ? 7 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the time of services Wednesday at the church. Memorials are preferred to Concordia Lutheran Church Building Fund.
