Janet B. Charlson, 74, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010. She was born June 1, 1936 to Bernard and Rosella (Borgschatz) Kann. She graduated from Goodhue High School in 1954. Janet worked at NSP and JC Penney in Red Wing. On April 14, 1956 she married Arnold Charlson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa and they lived in Red Wing. For many years she and her husband ran and operated Charlson Excavating. She later worked at Treasure Island until her retirement. Janet was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. After retiring they enjoyed traveling and spending their winters in Florida.

She is survived by her husband, Arnie; sister, Ardell (Jack) Decker of Red Wing; brothers, Arnie Kann of Red Wing and Jim Kann of Rochester, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Bernard; mother, Rosella Johnson; stepfather, Earl Johnson; brother, John, one niece, and one nephew.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 5, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Todd Engel officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to St. John's Lutheran Church, Goodhue County Historical Society or Kiwanis Hanging Basket Fund.
