Janelle K. Kraut a lifetime resident of Zumbrota passed away peacefully on Monday, August 23 at St. Mary's Hospital at the age of 84.
Janelle was born on June 24th, 1926 to John and Rose Hegre. She graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1944. She worked briefly at Ford Garage in Zumbrota as a bookkeeper. She married Raymond H. Island on June 21, 1947. They raised their family in Zumbrota. They later divorced. Janelle worked for Ben Franklin Variety Store and Hub Foods. She married John Kraut July 23, 1983. He passed away September 14, 2002.
Janelle enjoyed travelling with John, reading, shopping, collecting cardinals and most importantly spending time with her family and friends. She was a very caring person.
She is survived by three daughters, Rozie Born of Zumbrota, Randi (Dave) Campbell of Eyota, and Robyn Meyer of Rochester; four grandchildren, Shelley Speltz of Zumbrota, Jody (Andy) Picha of Rochester; Jeremy Campbell of Eyota, and Kristi (Erik) Hammel of Rochester; three great-grandchildren, Zach and Lauren Picha and Kade Hammel; five step-grandchildren, Billee Kraut (Butch Johnson) of Minnetonka, Jill (Rick) House of Iowa City, Ken (Janell) Kraut of Spring Valley, Doug (Joyce) Kraut of St. Charles, and Bruce (Jane) Kraut of Spring Valley; eleven step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchild.
Janelle was preceded in death by her husband John and son-in-law Howard Born.
The funeral for Janelle K. Kraut will be Thursday, August 26th at 10:00 AM at United Redeemer Church in Zumbrota with Reverend Tom Isaacson officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday August 25th at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota from 5:00 until 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Janelle requested memorials be given to the Ronald McDonald House or United Redeemer Lutheran Church.
