Janean Lail Hoyer, 80, of Bay City, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood. She was born February 17, 1944 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Leonard and Leota (Hake) Ruka. Her family moved to River Falls, Wisconsin where she graduated from high school in 1962. She worked for a time at Red Wing Shoe Company but had bartended at Hase Loft in Bay City for 50 years. She was a member of the Bay City Legion Auxiliary and had been a volunteer for the Bay City Fire Department. Janean had a straightforward and spunky attitude, but she had a huge heart and big smile for everyone--along with a flip of “the bird”. Janean had spent 38 years with the love of her life, Ben Hoyer, at the time of his passing in 2013. Her family will remember her special goulash, her many pets and the love she had for her family.
She is survived by her sister, Lynn (Robert) Constantine; children, Edwin (Lori) Hoyer, Charles Hoyer, Robert Hoyer, Joseph Wilcox, Margaret (Scott) VanStone, Chad (Jennifer) Wilcox, Nicole (Kurt) Krahnke, Joseph Cook and Stormy Hoyer and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben Hoyer; children, Ronald Wilcox and Duane Hoyer; brother, Ronald Ruka and sister, Beverly Thompson.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2024, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Ellsworth Chapel. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Bay City Cemetery.
