Jane Anne Wettern, 80, of Red Wing, died unexpectedly Saturday morning at her home. She was born June 3, 1929, in Featherstone Township to Adolph and Goodrun (Johnson) Simanski and attended rural school in Goodhue. She married Richard Wettern on May 7, 1955 and they made their home in Red Wing. She retired as a cook from the Vasa Children's Home in 1995. Richard died on February 28, 2003. Jane enjoyed caring for others, spending time with her family, canning, cooking and playing cards.

She is survived by her 5 children, Gary (Dawn) Wettern of Red Wing, Randy Wettern of New London, Wisc., Dawn (John) Bauer of Red Wing, Jeff (Robyn) Wettern of Lake City and Tim Wettern of Crystal, Minn.; 9 grandchildren, Matthew and Paige Wettern, Ashley (Erik) Haslund, Elliot Bauer, Aliza (Scott) Albers, Travis, Steven(Cameron), Jacob and Tayla Wettern; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois Dahling of Red Wing; 3 brothers, Donald (Carol) Simanski of Red Wing, James (Beverly) Simanski of White Bear Lake and Bob (Jean) Simanski of Red Wing and a very special friend, Bill Swanson of Red Wing.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard and a brother, Vernon Simanski.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at United Lutheran Church with Reverend Steve Timm officiating. Burial will be at Burnside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the church on Wednesday.
