Jane Marie Luhman, 45, devoted wife, mother, best friend and love of Jesse's life, died on Sunday, January 29, 2017, at her home in Goodhue. Jane was born on June 1, 1971 to Gary and Barbara (Wilcox) Walen in Fridley, Minn. She graduated from Columbia Heights High School in 1989 and then attended Mankato State University and Rasmussen Business College. On September 4, 1993 she married Jesse Luhman at First Lutheran Church in Columbia Heights. They lived in Brooklyn Center before moving to Goodhue in 1998. Their daughter, Rebekah, was born in 2012 and she was the sunshine of her mommy and daddy's lives. Rebekah was the most important thing to Jane and she was blessed to be a stay at home mom. Jane was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Goodhue. She loved music, doing a variety of crafts including making cards and writing letters, and loved to read.
Jane is survived by her loving husband, Jesse and daughter, Rebekah of Goodhue; mother and father, Gary and Barb Walen of Fridley, Minn.; brother, Jeff (Melinda) Walen of Coon Rapids, Minn.; mother in law, B.J. Smith of Goodhue; father in law, Luther (Bonnie) Luhman of Red Wing; brother in law, Jacob (Jennifer) Luhman of Red Wing; niece, Amanda Walen; nephews, Christopher Walen, Hayden and Hunter Luhman; uncle, Norm (Peggy) Walen of Phoenix, AZ and an aunt, Carol (David) Ash of Spooner, WI. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Gene and Floss Wilcox and John and Jenny Walen.
Memorial service will be at 11 am on Friday, February 3, 2017 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Goodhue with Reverend Kurt Hagen officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2017 and one hour prior to the service all at the church. Jane was given the gift of life 14 years ago, by receiving a kidney and pancreas donation. The family requests that in her honor, you consider becoming an organ donor-by telling your loved ones of your wishes or making the designation on your driver's license.
