Jana Danielle Langhans, 16, of Lake City, died unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 6, 2021. She was born July 14, 2005, in Red Wing, to Dan and Christa (Luhman) Langhans. Jana attended school in Red Wing and was about to start her sophomore year of school. Though she didn’t necessarily have a favorite subject in school, seeing her friends was probably one of the best things about school. She loved her friends and had an abundance of them. Jana was quite the hilarious girl, even from her toddler days, she was always making others laugh. She was a spitfire—she had a sassy attitude and wasn’t afraid to let others know where they stood with her, nor did she have a problem standing up for others if needed. She had a deep love for animals, especially her cat, Kayla and had a special connection with her nieces and nephews, as she was definitely known as the “favorite auntie” in the family. She had worked part-time in the past at Port 104 in Lake City, had babysat here and there, and was currently working as a hostess at Kelly’s Lakehouse in Lake City.
She will be dearly missed by her parents, Dan & Christa Langhans of Lake City; siblings, Nick (Kaci) Peterson of DuPont, Washington, Dylan (Mikayla) Peterson of Red Wing, Gracie (Marty Simmons) Spriggle of Red Wing and Chloe (Miguel Rosas) Luhman of Las Vegas; her nieces & nephews, Addison, Axel & Avery Peterson, Liam Oman and Richard Rosas; grandparents, Allan (Sherry) Luhman of Lake City, Rochelle (Kollin) Nelson of Stockholm, Wisc. & Jan Langhans of Red Wing; aunts & uncles, Cori (Brent) Bolland, Casey Luhman, Kelly (Bobbi) Langhans, Gina Johnson, Jon Sundberg and Josh (Liz) Sundberg and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by grandfather, Bill Langhans; great-grandmother, Carol Bremer and an uncle, Chet Luhman.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. -1p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
