James "Jim" Clayton Woodard, age 83, of Ellsworth, died Thursday, March 8, 2018 at United Hospital in St. Paul. He was born on September 11, 1934 to Baxter and Ruby (Lowe) Woodard in Bryson City, NC. He grew up in Bryson City until moving to Seattle, WA where he worked as a woodsman. He later moved to Chicago where he worked for Halliburton. Eventually he worked part-time at Treasure Island where he met his wife, Carol Demo. They were married on May 1, 1990 and the couple made their home in Ellsworth. James loved to garden and maintain his lawn. He enjoyed helping his friend, Greg, on his farm and driving around the country side looking for morning glories. Most of all he loved sitting with his wife, side by side, in matching hammocks.
He is survived by he wife, Carol of Ellsworth; sons, Sanders Woodard, John B., Joseph Campbell, Bruce Campbell; daughters, Tina Jefferson, Christy Childs, Tishena Cree, Victoria Cree; 26 grandchildren, many great grandchildren; two brothers; one sister; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; three brothers; one granddaughter; one grandson.
